August 25th is departure day. Flying from San Diego CA with a quick pit stop in Great Dunmow, Essex, England to visit my Mum. This quick detour will allow me to comfortably get over my jet lag along with the opportunity to eat an authentic fish and chips to fuel my start.
I am starting to question my decision on my choice of camino. My chosen Camino Del Norte is not as traveled as the most popular Camino Frances and known to be a grueling route. With fewer pilgrims there are limited options for accommodation and high potential of having nowhere to stay on any given night. I have pre-booked my first few nights but after that I am putting my faith in luck!. I am also concerned about feeling alone.
I have heard the Camino Frances is saturated with pilgrims which would eliminate the fear of isolation but I might feel lost amongst the masses. The Camino Frances is also inland and I like the idea of being closer to the coast.
Hmmmmm. Admittedly I have never taken the easy path in life and so far it has served me well. Perhaps I should stick with my decision?
